Found on YouTube...Rachael Brook

Howdy!

How was everyone's weekend? I've been busy working on selling off my designer items at the consignment shops(post to come soon), and obsessively watching Youtube!

Here's my new fave MUA...

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I found Rachael during Xmas when she did a video with fellow YouTuber Chloe Morello. I was obsessed with the glittery eye make up look she wore and have been following her on YouTube and Instagram ever since. I've watched her videos on repeat and have picked up a few of her recommendations already! (posts to come soon) She's hilarious, you'll love her!

Eggplant Dip...Kashkeh Bademjoon

1 Eggplant (next time I'll try this recipe with Japanese Eggplant, I found this one had too many seeds)
1 onion (chopped)
2 garlic cloves (crushed)
1/2 cup Sour Cream or Kashk
4 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
And the meal...Garlic Prawn Recipe coming soon!

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I am absolutely addicted to eggplant dip from Zeitoon. There was a time I ate Persian food every week and this was a must! I googled and found a recipe and decided to try it. I'm so pleased with the results, definitely time consuming for this meal but was well worth the wait!

Instructions:
Peel and cut eggplant into 1" rounds. On wire rack with paper towels, lay eggplant on and salt both sides. Add another layer of paper towels and top with something heavy ( I placed 3 cookbooks). Leave on for 1 hr, this will help expel the excess liquid.
Preheat oven at 400 F bake eggplant for 20 minutes. Flip and continue baking for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven to cool.
During this time chop onions and garlic. In a pan on medium heat add 1 Tbsp of EVOO, add onions and sauté until soft. Lower heat to low and caramelize, mine took about 28 minutes. Add the garlic in the last 2 mins. Set aside 1 Tbsp of onions for garnish.
In a bowl add the eggplant and onion garlic mixture and mash with a fork. Add the sour cream and pepper to combine. You can transfer to a serving dish, but I kept mine in the same bowl(less dishes to wash yay! lol) Add the onions from earlier as garnish.

Here's another recipe that's quicker...

Turkey Spaghetti...

I halved the recipe and even still I was able to freeze 3 days worth of lunches and dinners!

Ingredients:
2.5 pounds of lean ground turkey (next time I'll use less around 1.5)
1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
1 large yellow onion, diced
1 green pepper ( I omitted this as I'm allergic)
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup white wine or chicken stock
1 can 28 ounce crushed tomatoes
half a can (2 ounce) tomato paste
1 jar store bought Marinara Sauce ( I used the full jar and omitted the additional 6 oz of crushed tomatoes)
1/2 Tsp ground oregano
1/2 Tsp ground thyme
2 whole bay leaves
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tsp Salt
1/4 tsp crushed pepper (optional)
2 Tbsp finely minced fresh parsley
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional, I used a lot as I love cheese :))
extra minced parsley for serving
extra parmesan cheese for serving

Serves 12

Simmering...
Plated and ready to eat with a side of garlic cheese bread...

While creeping on IG I was motivated by Chrissy's post and the next day purchased the ingredients to make turkey spaghetti. I have tried the spaghetti squash but this time I used spaghetti noodles instead.

Find the recipe here...

Banana Oat and Coconut Muffins...

Ingredients:
1-2 or 1/2 Cup Super Ripe Banana (Mashed)
1/2 Cup Oat Flour
1-2 scoops Protein powder
2 Tbsp Coconut Flour (3 Tbsp if you're omitting the protein powder)
1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Egg
1 Egg White
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1/2 Tsp Cinnamon (Optional)
2 Tbsp Mini Chocolate Chips (I only used 18 to sprinkle on top)
Yields: 6
Using a fork to combine everything...
After 20 mins of baking and cooling off...

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I found this recipe on IG from a feed I follow: fithealthyrecipes the original recipe came from lean_lisha
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a bowl whisk all dry ingredients, then add wet ingredients until combined. I didn't have any protein so I skipped this option and added another tablespoon of the coconut flour instead. I also added the cinnamon as I love anything with it!
At this point you can fold in your mini chocolate chips, or do what I did and place them on top.
Spray your baking tin and fill it evenly to fit the 6. I used a medium sized ice-cream scoop for convenience. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Enjoy! And if you do bake these tag me! #passorpraiseworthyblogbakes

Apple Cinnamon and Sugar Croissants...

Ingredients: 2 apples (I used fuji)
3/4 of a stick of butter (I only had salted)
1 Pillsbury Crescents Roll
I rough chopped my apples or you can use slices
Fresh out of the oven...
Plated and ready to eat...

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. The other day I had an apple croissant from Whole Foods and ever since then I've been craving more. This recipe is a cross between a churro and an apple pie! = Yummo
Follow the instructions on the package on how to roll and wrap.
Heat oven at 375 F and bake at 15 minutes.

Brazilian Cheese Bread...

Fresh out of the oven...
I used a mini size ice-cream scoop and it yieled about 35

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. This is the second time I made these, and they truly are addicting! I managed to find this gem on IG from the colorfulfoodie!

Ingredients:
1 Sweet Potato
1 Cup Shredded Cheese (your choice, but I used Chedder)
1 Cup Tapioca Flour
1 Cup Low Fat Ricotta Cheese
1 egg
2 egg whites

Directions:
Preheat oven at 400 F
Wash and dry your sweet potato. Prick with fork all over and bake for 30 mins. Flip and continue baking for another 30 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Preheat oven to 350 F
In a bowl add sweet potato and mash with a fork. Add flour, ricotta cheese, egg and egg whites. Combine everything and fold in shredded cheese. Spray a baking sheet and spoon on balls or use an ice-cream scoop for convenience. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden. Don't leave them in longer than 30 mins or else they look like this!
Still edible and tasty if you like them super crispy!

Recent Finds...Giella and Real Techniques

One of Kim Kardashian's makeup artists Mario recommended Eye M Glam by Giella as a highlighter and since my holy grail highlighter from Dior is now discontinued I've been on the hunt. I ordered one for myself and my girlfriend(ordering 1 just didn't make sense with the $25 shipping to Canada).
I also spotted the RT setting brush on Jade's IG, and ordered that from Amazon.

Readers have you tried either of these? Thoughts?

Recent Finds...Old Navy

I wanted this, but it's sold out so I settled for this...
No biggie though, I saved oodles as this was on clearance for $14.99 and it gets the job done!

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I spotted the J Crew tote on Instagram and immediately set out to get my hands on one, only to find it sold out. Disappointed I let it to go, but not before calling the online # and putting a request in to be notified if it comes back lol.  Weeks later I spotted the Old Navy one on IG and popped by my local store. Luckily I found it and it was on clearance, score!

Humpday Happenings...Nuba and IG

I had a craving for hummus and after a google search I found Nuba,

Najib's Special
Chicken Tanook

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. Happy to report my cravings were sated. I enjoyed the chicken tanook platter for the variety, and also ordered a side of tzatziki(not shown). I would pass on the najib's special, but worth a try for first timers(all my friends raved about it, I found it too burnt tasting).

Beta 5...Cream Puffs

Cream Puff deliciousness...

L to R:
S'more
Banana Cream
Vanilla
Milk Chocolate Ganache

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I first heard of Beta 5 through Instagram, previously mentioned here. My initial thoughts were too sweet, but after having a try of the other flavours I'm hooked. So far my top pick is the banana cream, milk chocolate ganache, salted caramel and s'more. I didn't try the coconut and passion myself, so I can't vouch for the taste. However, I did try the vanilla and would pass as it tasted quite bland.

If you want to try an upgrade to Beard Papa's definitely check out Beta 5. I would call ahead and reserve as I've stopped by before to find they were completely sold out. :(

Super eager to return and try the remaining flavours! Readers, have you tried Beta 5? And if so what are your favourites?

Recent Finds...Winners

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. Being a new mom I have little time to pamper myself let alone get my hair done. So if I can find any quick and easy styles I'm all for it.
I used to wear those foam sleep in rollers, back in the day.  You know, these ones...(I know eek!) I swear they work though! For now though I was looking for more of a relaxed curl. While this set doesn't hold the curl long, I do appreciate the volume it gives. What I'm not a fan of is; they're not as comfy to sleep on and the old man kept saying I made crunchy noises(it's from the velcro). For $12.99 though I don't mind keeping the old man up:)
This set comes with 8 medium size and 8 large size velcro rollers, along with 20 pins, a comb and a drawstring bag to hold it all in.

Finding on Instagram...Delicious Eats

You all know by now that I'm addicted to Instagram...and if you do follow me I'm on there constantly :D even more so now when I nurse my baby...

I also love to eat and get so excited when I find new places to try and fall in love!

Here's a few of my favourites as spotted on IG...

Bacon and Onion flatbread and Salted Caramel Icecream(Earnest Ice Cream) from Le Marche St George
Peanut Butter Cookies with Nutella cream from Homer St Cafe (I've also had the roast chicken, which I highly recommend! Sorry no pics, as it gets devoured before I can snap a nice one)

The Scrambled Eggs Chorizo Bacon Breakfast Sandwich (substituted for croissant) and side of maple beans and bacon at Catch 122
I ate the Salted Caramel and the rest old man devoured *~* Cartems
I had the Salted Caramel cream puff and old man had the Coconut & Passion Fruit from Beta 5
