Recent Finds...Sephora

As mentioned in my last post I popped into Sephora and grabbed a few new products Rachael mentioned in her videos...

I also wanted the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation Illuminator in IL01 but will be ordering that online

I was looking like a pasty ghost on the weekend when I attended my girlfriend's birthday dinner so these new bronzing beauties could not come at a sooner time!

I've also ordered Lanolips which are back ordered, but will be posting it on IG once it finally arrives...

Found on YouTube...Rachael Brook

Howdy!

How was everyone's weekend? I've been busy working on selling off my designer items at the consignment shops(post to come soon), and obsessively watching Youtube!

Here's my new fave MUA...

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I found Rachael during Xmas when she did a video with fellow YouTuber Chloe Morello. I was obsessed with the glittery eye make up look she wore and have been following her on YouTube and Instagram ever since. I've watched her videos on repeat and have picked up a few of her recommendations already! (posts to come soon) She's hilarious, you'll love her!

Salmon Recipes...Japanese Dishes

Recently while catching up on my fave You Tube guru's I came upon Melodee's Channel and found myself glued to my iPad watching all of her videos! I immediately went out and bought ingredients to make the salmon dish she ate in the video...

Ingredients:
1 piece of salmon ( I got 100 grams)
1/2 a carrot (thinly sliced)
1 tsp of mayonnaise
salt and pepper
handful of spinach
2 tbsp of bonito sauce
1 tbsp of mirin
Ingredients:
1 piece of salmon ( I got 100 grams)
2 mushrooms (thinly sliced)
1/4 of a sweet onion (thinly sliced)
1 tsp of mayonnaise
salt and pepper
2 tbsp of bonito sauce
1 tbsp of mirin
Mirin Sauce
Bonito Sauce
I googled top brands, but these are the only ones available at T&T (local asian mart) that they carried in small sizes
Plated and ready to eat...rice and miso soup would be great sides to accompany this

Directions for both:
Preheat oven to 350 F
On a baking sheet, place enough tin foil for the slices of salmon to be fully wrapped and covered.
For the carrot and spinach:
place the slices of carrot on the tin foil
lay salmon on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper, then the mayonnaise
top with spinach and pour on the mirin and bonito sauce
fold the tin foil over and wrap the salmon tightly closed
Bake for 15 minutes

For the mushroom and onions:
place salmon on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper, then the mayonnaise
top with mushrooms and onions, then pour on the mirin and bonito sauce
fold the tin foil over and wrap the salmon tightly closed
Bake for 15 minutes

If you try these recipes send me a pic, I'd love to see! Enjoy!

Depotting MAC eyeshadows...

my little assembly line...
allowing the metal to cool before glue removal...
Voila, complete and in my MAKE UP FOREVER palette

Recently I set some time aside to depot several shadows I got from "back to MAC" makeup I cleaned out from organizing. Total time was 2 hours, it took less than 30 minutes to remove the shadows from the plastic and the remaining time spent removing the glue. (10 eyeshadows)

TOOLS:
flat iron
towel
q-tips or cotton pads (I used both but found the q-tips worked better)
alcohol
paper clip or pin (something you can poke through the plastic)
parchment paper
magnetic sheet (purchased from Walmart)
scissor
blade ( I used the blade option from my nail cutter)
empty palette ( purchased this MUFE palette back in the day when MAC didn't have a clear top)

Here's a visual

Rundown:
- pop up eyeshadow using the blade (the spot between the snapping mechanism)
- place shadow on parchment paper with heat setting to 3/4 high (you don't need it that hot, I only have 1 setting on mine.)
- leave on for a few minutes, you can check to see if its ready when there's an indentation or you see the silver pan peek through
- remove from flat iron, let it stand for a few minutes (this is super hot! I wore my glove that I use with my curler to handle it)
- if you're able to handle the plastic, use your paper clip to poke through the back to loosen the pan from the plastic
- remove the glue using alcohol and a cotton swab
- to remove the sticker let it sit on the flat iron with parchment paper for 10 seconds or until you're able to pull the sticker off
- place on magnetic sheet and cut to desired size
- voila you are done!

Color Analysis...Finding Your Season

While random YouTube browsing recently, I came upon this video...

Eager to find my season and what colors worked best for me, I googled swatches. Since Spring is coming around the corner and as per my previous post I've been diligently purging. But before I refill my wardrobe, I'll be investing in pieces that will compliment rather than wasting my money.

As per the video, I'm a warm fall/autumn...

Readers are you familiar with color analysis? And if so what season do you fall in? Now knowing what season I am, I'm hoping I'll be making better choices for items being added to my closet!

Recent Finds...Haircare and Beauty Products

Happy Friday Everyone! Only 5 more sleeps till Christmas Yahoooooooo!
I'm feeling under the weather today and am excited for the weekend to relax and recoup, Vancouver weather can be so dicey. At least today it looks like Christmas...(it's snowing outside!)

I finished Christmas shopping Tuesday this week and all the wrapping is done! Phew. I also managed to get in some things for myself:)

Some items I picked up from the Curlique friends and family sale: 30% off
Trying new shampoo John Masters Lavender and Rosemary Shampoo...so far it's nice but gosh is it expensive! (Purchased the John Master Lavender and Avocado Intensive Conditioner at Whole Foods to use with it.)
Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate (heard great things about this cream, have yet to try.)
Embryolisse Lip Protection Stick (have been using this for the past week and so far it's quite nice.)
Velour Lashes in Whispie Sweet Nothings (this was for a photoshoot for today, but I had to resched bc of the weather :( )
From Sephora for the $20 Gift card for VIB's...
Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream (OMG new love! Have been using this every night for my dragon hands, it works and smells so good! My hands were so dry they were starting to crack and bleed in some areas.)
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (heard about this from Michele1218 on You Tube, have yet to try.)
Urban Decay All Nighter (picked up a backup to qualify for the GC.)
From the Beauty Supply Store...
Babyliss 1 1/4" Tourmaline Curling Iron ( I had previously purchased the Hot Tools, and it was so powerful I gave it away. My hair was smoking every time I used it. Tried this last night, and it's a much more natural curl. I could foresee the spring handle getting loose in the future from use, however I don't plan to use it the conventional way. Right now I'm wrapping the hair around and holding it for about 20-30 seconds, setting at 35. Works Great!)
Macadamia Flawless Cleansing Conditioner (heard of this from Fleurdeforce, have yet to try.)

Recent Finds...Velour Lashes

I first found out about these from Jaclyn on YouTube(thanks Jaclyn!). I have a trip and a wedding coming up and am excited to try these. Another style that caught my eye was Oops Naughty Me. The store I went to was a mess and the boxes with the names were mixed up so I'll be back in the future with more time to browse.

Loving Now...No Heat Curls

While recently browsing Youtube I stubbled upon a video for no heat curls, and I have to say it works and looks great!

I first heard of it here

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I've tried this twice already since finding it, and love it! This will be perfect for travel, as the curling irons can get cumbersome not to mention electrical outlet compatibility in different countries. (I hate carrying adapters! I mean luggage is heavy as it is...)
