Humpday Happenings...Update

Hello Everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Quick update of the last few weeks! So sorry for not being consistent!

Cookies from the old man for Mother's Day
Shopping at Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart
St Tropez Mini Tanning Mitt

* Shoppers has a spend your points this weekend so I'll definitely pop by the beauty boutique and grab a few things!

Also ordered this brush to start dry brushing and prep for my tan...

Quick update on my recent splurges from Sephora:
My Verdict: Praiseworthy. Love the Giorgio Armani fluid sheer (I add this to foundation or use it on top of foundation. Although I find it doesn't blend as nicely when it lays on top), liquid shimmer (I use this to contour and darken my foundation) and lastly the bronzer which I use as a blush. For some reason though GA's foundation doesn't work for me. I can't recall exactly why I hated it as it's been a good 5 years since I tried it lol, but I know for a fact it didn't look good. I went with Estee Lauder double wear instead for the event I was attending. The finish looked much nicer on my skin, and it photographed beautifully!

Update...Closet Tidying Up

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend (Valentine's day and Chinese Lunar New Year)

Here's what I was doing...

 Before
Before (round 2)

After
Getting my closet in order...inspired by this post from Katherine

My Verdict: Praiseworthy. I was recently catching up on Feather Factor and happily came upon this post. Needless to say, I was motivated and immediately set forth the task of tidying up. Perfect timing too as Chinese New Years was the same week. I cheated and didn't follow the directions to the tee, as baby A was sleeping whilst I was tidying and 2 boxes of clothes were housed in her closet. It took 2 nights but I was finally able to cull quite a bit and will revisit as the season changes. Highly recommend!

* Update, great news as my drawers still look this good even after 2 weeks!

Update...Makeup Declutter Completed (For now)

And here's my updated progress of decluttering my makeup...

This is an old Ikea trolley, new version or this
My goal is to eliminate this completely...
While I can do this now, I'm not quite ready to relieve the items in the drawers...(old habits die hard :P)
Top: Travel brushes, eye/lip liners, eyebrow grooming tools, eyelash curlers, eyeshadows, highlighters and bronzers
Middle: False Lashes, hair clips and bobby pins, Q-tips and setting powders
Bottom: Makeup cases, picture frames, sponges
On my vanity...lotions, brushes and tools
Inside: Custom Palettes, eyeshadows/pigments, lipsticks/lip glosses
Inside: Quads, eyeshadow, eyebrows and blushes

For now this is what I'm happy to keep, however in the future if I'm not using the Chanel quads and MAC pigment samples I'd like to purge those. Also when I find the time to depot my MAC shadows I have an empty palette that needs to be filled. That will make space for the items on my trolley, (eye/lip liners, lip glosses). The tools and extra brushes can fit on top of my vanity and most of them are travel sized brushes which can be put together with my travel essentials.

Readers what is the state of your makeup collection? Any tips and pictures to share?

Update...New Beginnings

Hello Everyone! I apologize for being MIA this last week has been hectic, but a good hectic!

In case you missed it...

I gave birth! As I mentioned previously, 2014 will hold new and exciting paths... and a definite change in the blog. While I won't detour too much from makeup, skincare and clothes I would love to share some experiences from pregnancy and post. I know I had so many questions, and it was difficult to find resources. Also, I'd love to share baby's must haves and such!

Other things on my mind...
I was reading this great post from Katherine, and it inspired me to declutter my makeup!
I hardly use all of my makeup and seriously have no time to get all fancy now. So in the next few weeks I'll re-evaluate and toss!
My goal is to downsize into the 2 drawer inserts seen above. (found those at Homesense on one of my shopping trips.)

I also have been wanting a clear case forever, but that just asks for more hoarding. I'll have a better idea what to look for once I declutter. But I would purchase one of these if I do:
I did also spot some great acrylic cases at Homesense so may return for those if the Muji's are still sold out.

That's it for now and I'll try my best to post periodically! Thank you for visiting!

Update...Xmas Aftermath

Hope everyone had a wonderful 24th and 25th!

Here's a quick update on what I was up to...

Picked up some goodies for myself...
Aritzia bag: Beekman Sweater and Upton Dress
In the Hermes bag: Oran Sandals
Prepped for Xmas Lunch Potluck with my family: Made Ina Garten's Tomato Feta Pasta Salad and Salted Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (first time making these, they were great right out of the oven but got crispy after a few hours. I would suggest keeping them in only 2 minutes after lightly tapping the tops.)
Before Baking (this batch was for the kids)
After Baking (this batch was for the grown ups)
Part of the table spread: Not seen Turkey Pot Pie, Fruit Punch, Cinnamon Buns and my cookies were on another table...

Readers how did you spend the holidays? Would love to see pics!

Update...Beauty Blender and Superstore

My Verdict: Pass on the Joe Fresh sponge from Superstore. After using this sponge for several months and washing it with hand soap, maybe too vigorously because now there's a tear in it. The price sounded great but for the length of time I was able to use it I would pass(I didn't use it everyday, more sporadically). Paying $16 more would get me the original, so why not.
I've just started to use the Beauty Blender and it preforms great. I found when squeezing out the excess water it was still nice and soft, where as Joe fresh was more dense. On the skin both performed excellently. They blended the makeup in flawlessly. I can only speak for tinted moisturizer and concealer though. I haven't tried either with foundation.

Not sure if you can tell but this is before I washed the BB, this is after 2x of use

I purchased the solid cleanser, as I found hand soap still left the Joe fresh stained. At $22 the cleanser was not cheap, but it does do a great job. No stains left on my beauty blender and it's great for travel. *side note, during the first wash the Beauty Blender did bleed a little pink, however after a good rinse it was fine. To avoid this possibly purchase the white or black instead...
