Baby Shower for Baby JG...

Super sorry for being MIA, no internet access is no fun!

Here's some photos of a diaper cake I made for my girlfriend recently...

Supplies : Size 1 Huggies Diapers
Pacifier, rattles, plastic pins, and streamer from Dollar Store
Rubber duck from Old Navy (this must not be the season for rubber ducks, I got desperate after 5 stores, and 1 mall)

Glue (didn't end up using)
Various strings and ribbons
Elastic bands
Tape
Double sided tape
Scissors

Final look...
I used 6, 14, and 22 diapers for the tiers
(not shown: I used chopsticks to hold the tiers together)

Congratulations C & J! Welcome baby Jaxon!!!

Recent Finds...Makeup

I wanted a pick me upper so I got some new makeup...

YSL Rouge Pur Couture #12 & #27
Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer #15 (haven't tried this one yet)
Giorgio Armani Master Corrector #2
Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush #2
Kevin Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight

My Verdict: Pass on the YSL #27 lip stain, I tried this a few times and I'm thinking because it's a light colour it didn't last as long on me. I did 3 coats and once it came to eating, all of it came off. I do however, prefer the darker colour #12, with this I'm fine with 1 coat. It lasts until I wipe it off. I haven't tried any other colours from the line, but if you plan to the darker more pigmented colours are probably worth the $.
Pass on the GA master corrector, I put this on before I put my Laura Mercier secret concealer in #2. I found with both on and setting it with LM's secret brightening powder, my fine lines were more prominent. While it did cancel out the pigmentation, I don't have that bad of dark circles to warrant using both the GA and LM. Plus who wants to see their fine lines! I'll try this one again with a lighter highlighter, possibly the Dior skinflash. It was too expensive to give away just yet.
Pass on the GA sheer blush. On my skin this looked chalky. I didn't have a chance to try this on, and ordered it blindly based on reviews. To make this work for me, I have to layer this with another blush. Again since it's expensive I'll have to work with it.
Lastly, pass on the KA highlighter. I wanted to love this based on the reviews. Here's another one I purchased blindly without trying it on. I know what you're thinking, I should try these on before I buy. I don't have the patience though and when I'm home I like to create a full look to see it pulled together. When I'm out running errands I usually only have eyebrows on, and concealer. You can't get a good picture with a bare face. You need your game face(I call it my mask :D ) on to see how the end results will look. Having said that, the KA highlighter doesn't show up on my skin. I have to use ALOT for it to be visible. Plus the brush included is useless! I'll go back to Dior Amber Diamond or even the Hourglass Ambient Light in Luminous.

Shrimp with Chayote...

Here's another dish my mom made when she was over last...
prepping the chayote
green onions and parsley
Peeled and deveined shrimp, in a pot for frying

The finished dish! I had mine with rice and added hot sauce, yum!

Ingredients:
Chayote- we used 2
Green onions - 3 stalks
Cilantro- handful
9 Shrimp
Salt
Pepper
Sugar
Oil to fry the shrimp
Fish Sauce
This roughly estimates a serving of 3

Peel and cut chayote, set aside. Cut green onions and cilantro, set aside. Peel and devein the shrimp, cut into pieces. In a pot lightly coat pan with cooking oil, I used olive oil. Add salt, pepper and sugar(small amount). Fry until pink. Add generous amount of water, and bring to a boil. Add chayote, and a small amount of the green onion and cilantro. The mixture should be cooking for about 30 minutes by now. After another 10 minutes add the rest of the onion and cilantro and season with fish sauce to taste.
